The Challenge

Designed to accommodate any component part type with moderate cycle-time requirements, our solutions serve a wide range of industries, including automotive, medical, industrial, and aerospace. Whether inspecting shafts, gears, bearings, or other complex geometries, our system excels at detecting surface defects such as cracks, porosity, and lapping issues. Additionally, it performs magneto-induction testing for heat treatment, case depth, and microstructure evaluation. Critical dimensional gauging and feature recognition are seamlessly integrated, ensuring comprehensive testing capabilities. All these functionalities are consolidated into a single, versatile multi-tool system.

The FOERSTER Solution

Our solution offers both fully automated and semi-automated capabilities, designed to handle both complex and simple geometries. It employs a variety of testing methods, including eddy current for crack detection, magneto-induction for assessing material properties, and thermography for tasks beyond the scope of conventional eddy current testing. Additionally, it utilizes vision technology for dimensional gauging and large feature recognition. The system is adaptable, accommodating new part numbers or variants as needed. Its robotic functionality ensures long-term adaptability and future-proofing.

Specalties worth mentioning

The robotic system is capable of rotating cylindrical parts without the necessity for a separate rotation station, contingent upon the size and weight of the components, primarily applicable to gears and bearing races. It offers future-proofing through its capacity to be easily retooled and reprogrammed for new part numbers when existing components reach the end of their lifecycle.

Results

The system's performance is directly influenced by the number of tests conducted and the complexity of the test areas.
