Hands-On, Career-Ready Training

At FOERSTER Instruments, we believe the best learning happens when theory meets practice. That’s why our training programs combine expert-led classroom instruction with real-world applications using industry-grade FOERSTER equipment.

Whether you’re just starting your career in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) or advancing into specialized techniques, our courses are designed to support technicians, engineers, quality professionals, and educators in building confidence, capability, and certification.

Eddy Current Theory - Level I

Build a Strong Foundation in Eddy Current Testing

Next Session: TBD

FOERSTER’s Level I Eddy Current Training is the perfect starting point for technicians, operators, quality professionals, and students beginning their journey into Non-Destructive Testing (NDT).

This instructor-led course introduces the core principles of electromagnetic theory and eddy current testing (ECT), with a focus on how these fundamentals apply in real-world bar, tube, and wire inspection scenarios. The curriculum goes beyond the minimum recommendations outlined in ASNT SNT-TC-1A-2024, ensuring participants gain a comprehensive and practical understanding of ECT methods.

Students will learn how eddy currents are generated and used for flaw detection and material evaluation, explore the role of sensors and inspection parameters, and interpret basic signal readouts. Through a combination of classroom lectures and hands-on labs, participants will reinforce theoretical knowledge by working with FOERSTER test systems and sample parts.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Basic electromagnetic theory and principles of ECT
  • Coil and probe types, configurations, and applications
  • Selection and control of test parameters
  • Signal interpretation and readout basics
  • Labs in conductivity measurement, flaw detection, and more

Who Should Attend:

New NDT technicians, operators, students, or anyone responsible for basic inspection tasks involving ECT.

Eddy Current Theory - Level II

Advance Your Skills in Signal Interpretation and System Optimization

Next Session: TBD

FOERSTER’s Level II Eddy Current Training is designed for individuals who have completed Level I or possess foundational knowledge of ECT principles and are ready to deepen their expertise. This course builds upon the core concepts of electromagnetic testing and equips participants to confidently handle more complex inspection tasks.

Focusing on signal analysis, test setup optimization, and system design, this program trains participants to interpret results, troubleshoot signal anomalies, and apply ECT across a wider range of inspection environments. The curriculum meets and exceeds the ASNT SNT-TC-1A-2024 guidelines and emphasizes real-world application in bar, tube, and wire inspection scenarios.

Hands-on lab sessions allow participants to practice using FOERSTER instrumentation while applying their learning to complex signal conditions, material properties, and part geometries.

Key Topics Covered:

  • Advanced electromagnetic theory
  • Coil impedance, signal-to-noise ratio, and test frequency selection
  • Coupling effects and field strength considerations
  • Instrument design and system output optimization
  • Labs focused on complex flaw detection, conductivity testing, and setup troubleshooting

Who Should Attend:

Experienced ECT operators, NDT technicians, engineers, or anyone who has completed Level I and needs to qualify for more advanced inspections or supervisory roles.
